April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July. She began piano and guitar lessons from seven years old. The passion for creating songs was sparked. Soon after she began taking trips to write with father in NY in New York and LA. April started to incorporate additional relevant subjects into the"Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart works in partnerships at famous Clean Beauty brand Ilia and is also an influencer in the lifestyle industry who has a growing fan base. The truth is that she was born with no left hand and that makes her unique. However, this isn't the only thing about her. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't conceal her handicap, but it doesn't just focus on the issue. What message is it sending? There is more to us than just our physical self. Our identities are multifaceted and we contain many different dimensions. Lockhart in a video message sent from her Nashville home, says that I don't wish for that to be a part of myself. I am more than my physical self. My everyday life isn't directly affected by disability. I go about my regular day-to-day life and discover my own solutions to problems. It's also part of me so I think that it's crucial to speak about. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken is one that will last an entire lifetime. She has been a source of inspiration for this purpose. Still she admits she's gone through phases of her body, at times, being unsure about wearing particular types of clothes which showed the arms of her. She now wears any outfit she wants and posts pictures on Facebook in awe. The self-love she talks about is a journey. It's not clear when you'll reach the final stage. It's the same for everybody regardless of how much they are afraid. The people you surround yourself with, who know you and see through your eyes are the most important people to remind you of what you're worrying about.
